Santa Teresa's spa scene is small and relaxed: a natural day spa in town, a beachfront wellness center at Hotel Tropico Latino and an open-air wellness area at Hotel Nantipa. All 3 offer massage, and you'll find facials and sauna or classes depending on where you go. Book a day or more ahead in high season.
The short answer
Santa Teresa doesn't have big resort spas with marble lobbies. What it has is better suited to a surf town: small, natural treatment rooms and open-air wellness spaces where you can get a proper massage after a week of paddling, or a facial for skin that's had too much sun and salt.
Here are the 3 places we'd point you to first:
| Where | What it is | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Skin & Soul Holistics | Natural day spa and skincare shop in town | Facials, massage, sugaring |
| Natural Integrative Wellness at Hotel Tropico Latino | Beachfront wellness center | Massage, body treatments, sauna and ice bath, yoga |
| Numu at Hotel Nantipa | Open-air wellness area in the hotel gardens | Massage and body rituals plus classes |
Skin & Soul Holistics
Skin & Soul Holistics is a natural day spa in Plaza Las Palmas, beside Greenworld, in Santa Teresa. It's the place to go if skin is your priority. The menu centers on holistic facials designed to calm the nervous system as well as the skin, plus personalized full-body massage and sugaring, a natural form of hair removal.
There's also a well-chosen shop with skincare, hair care and reef-safe sun care, which is handy if you've run out of something or want better sunscreen than the supermarket sells.
- Booking: treatments are by appointment only, online or in the shop. Walk-ins are welcome for shopping.
- Hours: open daily, with shorter hours on Sunday. Check the website for current times.
Natural Integrative Wellness at Hotel Tropico Latino
Good to know: the spa at Hotel Tropico Latino and Natural Integrative Wellness are the same thing. Natural Integrative Wellness is the wellness center at the beachfront hotel, and it says it has offered daily beachfront yoga since 2004.
The treatment list is broad: several massage styles including deep tissue, facials, exfoliations, wraps and body care using local natural products. It also offers a sauna and ice bath for contrast therapy, which is a good reset after a long surf. The hotel side lists traditional gatherings too, such as a cacao ceremony and temazcal (a sweat lodge).
- Booking: through WhatsApp, using the Book buttons on the website.
- Yoga: daily beachfront classes for all levels. See our yoga guide for more studios.
Numu at Hotel Nantipa
Numu is the wellness area at Hotel Nantipa, an open-air space set in the hotel's gardens in Santa Teresa. It offers massage, body rituals and other restorative treatments by certified therapists using natural products, and a yoga shala with daily classes such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, Pilates and sound healing.
Nantipa says Numu is open to both hotel guests and outside visitors, so you don't need to be staying there to book.
- Booking: see the spa menu on Nantipa's website, then contact the hotel, for example on WhatsApp, to check availability.
- Good to know: this is a polished hotel setting, a nice choice for a special occasion or a couples' treatment.
Tips for booking a treatment
Book ahead in high season. From December to April, and over Christmas, New Year and Easter, the best therapists and times fill up. A day or 2 ahead is wise; for couples or groups, more.
Ask about the therapist and the pressure. Small spas have small teams. If you want a firm deep-tissue massage, or the opposite, say so when you book.
Time it around the sun. Book a massage or facial for late afternoon, after the beach, rather than before. Freshly treated skin and oils don't mix well with strong sun, and you'll want to relax afterward, not rush to a surf session.
Look after sunburned skin. If you've overdone the sun, say so when you book. A therapist can adjust or postpone a treatment, and some may suggest something gentler. Sunburn and deep pressure or exfoliation are a painful combination.
Drink water. The heat here is serious, and saunas and massages are dehydrating. Have a big glass of water before and after.
Bring cash or check payment options. Small businesses here sometimes prefer particular payment methods. Ask when you book.
Arrive early and calm. Roads are dusty and parking can be awkward. Leave yourself 10 or 15 minutes so you don't arrive flustered.
Pairing spa time with yoga
Several Santa Teresa wellness spots mix treatments and classes, and a yoga class followed by a massage is a lovely way to spend a rainy-season afternoon. Natural Integrative Wellness and Numu both run classes alongside treatments. For dedicated studios and retreats, such as Horizon Hotel and Yoga Center and Indigo Yoga Resort, see our yoga guide.
