Dreamcatcher Hotel (sometimes listed by its Spanish name, Hotel Atrapasueños) is a boutique hotel in Santa Teresa with rooms, kitchen apartments and group villas set around a pool in tropical gardens, steps from the beach. It suits couples, families and big groups, from weddings to retreats.

What it's like

Dreamcatcher is a garden hotel in Santa Teresa. Rooms, apartments and villas are spread around a central pool and tropical gardens with shady places to sit, and the beach is just a short walk away. The name translates to Atrapasueños in Spanish, and you may still see it listed that way on older maps and booking sites.

It's a flexible place. On a normal week it's couples and families; at other times a wedding party or retreat group takes over a villa or a block of rooms. That mix makes it handy if you're organizing a trip for a lot of people.

Rooms

The hotel lists 23 stays in all:

  • 16 rooms: from a 2-level loft with a balcony to king and queen rooms with garden terraces or balconies, family rooms with extra single beds, and 2 family suites with their own kitchens. A couple of rooms share a kitchen, and some sit right by the pool.
  • 4 apartments: each with a private kitchen, including a family mezzanine apartment with a big terrace and 2 suites with projectors for movie nights.
  • 3 villas: whole houses for groups. Villa Makaiza has a private kitchen, and Villa Toro sleeps up to 29.

Room descriptions on the official site focus on beds and layout, so check the details of your room (air conditioning, view, kitchen) before you book.

Food and wellness

The hotel doesn't list a regular restaurant. Instead it arranges food experiences in advance: private chef dinners in the villas, dinners on the beach, sunset picnics and catering for retreats and weddings. Rooms and apartments with kitchens make self-catering easy, and you're close to plenty of restaurants.

For wellness, there are yoga classes on the property, private yoga sessions and massage in your room or elsewhere on site, plus half-day and full-day wellness packages. The hotel also lists surf and local experiences you can book through its concierge. See our surf guide and activities guide for more.

Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

It's a good choice for families who want a kitchen and a pool, groups of friends who want to stay together, and anyone planning a wedding or retreat in Santa Teresa. The garden setting near the beach makes for an easy, walkable stay.

If you want an on-site restaurant and bar, or a polished luxury hotel, this isn't it. With groups coming and going, the pool area can be lively at times, so quieter travelers may want to ask for a room away from it.

Getting there

The hotel is in Santa Teresa, a short walk from the beach. Use the hotel's WhatsApp to get exact directions before you arrive. It can arrange a shuttle from the Paquera ferry, which takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. Our travel guide covers flights to Cóbano and the drive.
