Hotel Buenos Aires is a small hillside hotel on Calle Buenos Aires in Santa Teresa, where every double room looks out to the ocean. It's best for couples who want a simple, quiet room with a view and a restaurant on site, rather than resort extras.

What it's like

Hotel Buenos Aires is a small, low-key hotel on the hillside above Santa Teresa. The hotel sums itself up as being in the heart of the mountain, and the reason to stay is the view: every room looks out over the Pacific, and the sunsets from up here are the main entertainment. It's the kind of place where you come back from the beach, sit outside your room and watch the sky change color.

Don't expect a resort. This is a simple, friendly hotel with a handful of comfortable rooms and its own restaurant.

Rooms

The hotel keeps things simple. Rooms have a double bed and sleep up to 2 people, and each one comes with:

  • an ocean view
  • air conditioning
  • a private bathroom with hot water
  • a minibar and fridge
  • a kettle

The official site doesn't list a pool or other shared facilities, so if those matter to you, ask when you book.

The restaurant

Brukas is the hotel's restaurant, serving breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening, both with ocean views. Before it became Brukas, the restaurant went by the name Brisas del Mar. Having dinner on site is a real plus when you're up the hill and don't feel like driving down after dark. For lunch and other options, see our restaurants guide.

Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

It's a good fit for couples and solo travelers who want a clean, air-conditioned room with a view and don't need much else. Being up the hill also puts you a little away from the main road.

It's not set up for families or groups, since rooms are for 2 guests. Being on the hill means you'll walk or drive down to the beach and back up again, so a car, scooter or ATV helps. If you want to roll out of bed onto the sand, look at our accommodations guide for beachfront options.

Getting there

The hotel is on Calle Buenos Aires, a side road that climbs the hill in the southern part of Santa Teresa. From the main road near the Playa Carmen junction, ask the hotel for the turn-off and exact directions when you book. Our travel guide covers flights to Cóbano, shuttles and the Paquera ferry.
